The church is the key to the ex-offenders successful reentry into the community. If the spiritual community rejects the ex-offender, the world community will gladly receive him/her and aid their return to prison. The moment the ex-offender steps out of prison and the doors close behind him/her the clock starts ticking. If the ex-offender doesn't find acceptance, community, support and employment within a short amount of time, the survival mode sets in. Two-thirds of released prisoners are re-arrested and one-half are re-incarcerated within 3 years of release from prison (Langan and Levin, 2002). This is known as the 'revolving door'.
